Overview by IAAF
Campbell-Brown, ideally drawn one lane inside Felix, was about half a metre up on the American after 50m, but the defending champion was catching her, and did so just after halfway. Her long graceful stride took her a metre clear at 150m (16.37 to 16.49), and this extended to 3m by the finish, as Ferguson-McKenzie gained a metre on CampbellBrown over the last 50m to pass Lee for the bronze medal. The race marked the fourth time in five global championships that the first two medals had been taken by the Felix/Campbell-Brown duo, and the first time that any woman had won three consecutive world golds.
