Overview by IAAF | |||
After a desultory 62.16 in the first round of the final, defending champion Harting took the lead with a more characteristic 68.13. Behind DOHA 2019 PAST RESULTS/WORLD CHAMPS MEN’S DT 193 him Kanter was heading Ma achowski 65.19 to 64.49 after two rounds. The Pole moved into second place with 67.18, and the giant German promptly responded with 69.11, supporting his winning effort with 69.08 on the final throw of the competition. The medallists were exactly the same as in 2009, and in the same order. The trio had taken 10 of the available 12 medals since 2007. Harting’s celebration included his usual shirt-ripping display, but he was prevented from completing a lap of honour by a security guard. “There was no discussion,” revealed the winner. “The guy was probably about 25kg more than me.” Harting’s younger brother Christoph missed the final by one place | |||
