Overview by IAAF | |||
The former champion Fraser-Pryce had retained her Olympic title in 2012, and her run in the first round at Moscow indicated she was again the one to beat in a World Championship. She won the race in 11.15 after slackening off after only 30m. In the final Gardner and Fraser-Pryce started fastest, but the winner was evident by 20m. At that point the Jamaican was already half a metre ahead, and she extended the lead the whole way. Behind SAFP, Ahouré just held off Jeter 10.93 to 10.94, with Gardner edging Stewart for fourth as both ran 10.97. | |||
