Overview by IAAF | |||
The Kenyan team of Kamworor, Tanui and Karoki tried to take the sting out of Farah’s kick. All took turns in front, but halfway was reached in a modest 13:40.82 according to the photo-cell timer. The leading group of 13 was whittled down to five by the 8000m point with Kamworor leading from Farah, his two teammates, and Rupp. The 2:42-43 kilometre pace was maintained past 9000m (photo-cell 24:32.27). Farah typically went to the front with 500m left, but almost fell when clipped on his heels by Kamworor on the first bend of the last lap. The Briton eventually went clear in the finishing straight to win by 5m from Kamworor with Tanui an isolated third. After Karoki and Rupp there was a yawning gap to sixth place. Farah’s last lap took 54.14 by cell (or 54.15 by transponder). | |||
