| Liu and Lu were the only contenders to have ducked under 1:26 during 2015, and they led throughout the race. At 5Km (22:24), only Drahotová was in touch, and by halfway (44:19) the Chinese duo led by 26 seconds. Olyanovska gained a few seconds on the leading pair in the next quarter, but then Liu/Lu finished off with the fastest 5K section – 21:21. Liu held off Lu as the younger athlete appeared unworried to place second to her more experienced compatriot. |
