| A pack of 10 headed the field at the halfway point, reached in 44:10, led by Palmisano. By the 15Km mark the lead group was down to five, with Yang and González in front. Lu, Palmisano and de Sena were the other members of the pack. The Brazilian lost touch a kilometre later and Palmisano fell back after 18Km. Lu was eventually disqualified with a kilometre to go, although she stayed with Yang and González until there was 40m remaining. Yang went on to win by five metres. Fourteen of the top 16 set seasonal or personal bests, with de Sena setting a South American record of 1:26:59 in fourth place. |
